PracticeMaster Q&A: QuickViews

August 2019    Tags: , ,

I have some column layouts and filters set up in the client file of PracticeMaster that I use to evaluate my criminal cases, as opposed to the rest of my matters. Is there a quick way to switch between these types of matters rather than having to find my filter and column layout in the Quick Clicks pane?

QuickViews let you save a filter, column layout, and default sort together, thus allowing you to easily control how records are displayed on the List tab by turning the QuickView on/off.

To create a QuickView in the Client file

  1. From the File menu, point to Open and select Client.
  2. From the Edit menu, select Manage QuickViews.
  3. Press Ctrl+N.
  4. From the QuickView Editor window:
    1. Enter the desired QuickView Name (e.g., “Criminal”, “General Practice”, etc.).
    2. In the QuickView section:
      1. Select the desired Filter and Column Layout.
      2. Select any other options as desired.
    3. In the Options section:
      1. Select Show as QuickView tab.
      2. Select any other options as desired.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Close the Manage Quick Clicks window.

Now this QuickView will be available as a tab on the List tab, as well as in the QuickView section of the Quick Clicks pane. Simply click the QuickView tab and your filter and column layout will be applied.
