PracticeMaster Q&A: Importing Data from Excel Spreadsheets

July 2020    Tags: , ,

We have a new attorney starting that has their clients’ recent fee data in a spreadsheet. Is there any way to import this information, or do they need to enter it in manually?

Fees can be imported from a properly formatted .csv file via the Import Data Wizard.

To import fees into PracticeMaster

  1. From the Maintenance menu, select Import Data Wizard.
  2. Expand System Files and Common Client Related Files, select the Fee file, and then click Next.
  3. Select the File to be imported and click Next.
  4. Map your Import Fields to the desired PM Fields.
  5. Click the Validate Records button to test the specified record for any mapping errors. You can optionally arrow through each record to make sure it will import correctly. Once records have been validated, click Next.
  6. Click Finish.

For more information on formatting your .csv file, validating records, and the import process, see Knowledge Base Article R11724, “Importing Fees and Costs Into PracticeMaster from Microsoft Excel.”
