Billing Q&A: Password for Email Statements

December 2019    Tags: ,

Is there a way to make statements that we email out secure so that only certain people can open them?

Statement PDFs emailed via Tabs3 can be password protected. A password can be defined for each matter.

To set up password protection for emailed statements

  1. From the File menu, point to Open and select Client.
  2. Select the desired Client ID.
  3. From the Billing Preferences tab, in the Statement Delivery Options section, select the Use a password to protect PDF statements when emailed check box.
  4. Enter the desired password.
  5. Press Ctrl+S.

Note: The password is not assigned to the PDF statement until the email is sent. However, if the matter is marked secure, the password is assigned when the PDF statement is generated.
